This work is inspired by the rural life of romanian people and it’s a piece from a series of 7 called “The story of us”. Each of the works tells the story of different stages in life and the trials that come along and we must face at some point.
It is an allegory for the cycle of life; the time between the moment of our birth untill the end of our lives is full of ups and downs, of good times and bad times, of challenging moments and happy ones, and no matter who you are or were you’re from you still have to get through it all.Although people need wood to warm themselves in winter they also need another kind of fuel to keep the flame in their hearts alive, when adversity and hard times comes. This fuel is the drive, the resiliency that each one of us possesses, the reasons that can help us overcome anything.
I choose drawing on paper as my style because it allows me to control every detail, every part of the work entirely and especially to create realistic textures and rendering all sorts of visual effects. I wanted to give the impression of an old photograph, like a distant memory that starts fading away.
