Artist statement

I always loved drawing and painting, and growing up and studying art from an early age, I was drawn to a realistic rendering of my subjects. When I was a student I discovered Hyperrealism, so I inevitably became a follower of the style, striving relentlessly from that point on to perfect my technique in that particular manner.

I find beauty and meaning in ordinary things that most people discard or don’t pay attention to, and by studying them really close I feel I can have a better understanding of the world around us, adding at the same time my own contribution to he beauty and spiritual enrichment of those who come in touch with me and my art.

For a long time, portrait as a genre was the focal point of my creation, however, later on, after I have mastered the various drawing techniques – and therewith the ability to realistically render facial features and microexpressions, thus reaching towards an expressiveness that goes beyond a simple photo rendering- I started approaching other subjects, that would create new challenges for me.

As an artist I look tirelessly for new ways of evolving, to improve my expressive capabilities; both technical- by experimenting with different materials and techniques- and spiritual- through study and reflection, all in the pursuit of bettering myself both as an artist and as a person.
